I prefer to know who'd be able to use these pointless ramblings against me.

Just leave a comment and I'll add you.

I get this interesting feeling of satisfaction whenever I update my livejournal. Its not like a bunch of people read this or anything, but for some reason, I don't know..

First week of classes = done.

My week starts out with Intermediate Graphic Communications from 8-11. My professor seems pretty cool, and I'm pretty excited about our first project. We're incorporating blueprints of homes, and I'm really excited to be able to use some of my sister's work (she's an architect). I feel like my piece will have that much more meaning to me.

Right after that I have Drawing for Graphic Communications from 11-2 IN THE SAME ROOM. I'm in THE SAME ROOM for 6 hours! blahhhhh. But that class will be pretty cool, too. Our prof is a grad student and she's pretty awesome, and relates to us since she is much closer to our age and its a lot of fun. I was relieved to find out that we won't actually be "drawing" in the sense of "drawing" since I fail at drawing.

Then I get a 3 hour lunch break! awesome. I can probably actually come home to my apartment and save money. HOORAY.

Last I have Silkscreen from 5-8. He told all of us returning silkscreen students our assignments for the semester: You can do whatever you want. I just want you to have something on critique days, and show up for attendance and check in with me at least once a week about what you are working on. I can't wait to just work on stuff I want to work on. I think my first project is going to revolve around Helvetica. That font has been on my mind the entire break. (Thats really nerdy of me).

Oh and on Tuesdays I have Intro to Public Policy. taking it with a friend. hopefully its not too bad.

Here's my update to wrap up 2008.

These are my top albums of 2008 roughly in order of least to most favorite:

Chairlift - Does You Inspire You
Lykke Li - Youth Novel
Yelle - Pop-Up
The Hush Sound - Goodbye Blues
Katy Perry - One of the Boys
Cobra Starship - ¡Viva la Cobra!
Daft Punk - Alive 2007
Across the Universe Soundtrack
Panic at the Disco - Pretty. Odd.
Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend
Britney - Circus

Top 3
The Dark Knight Soundtrack
The Ting Tings - We Started Nothing
The Killers - Day & Age

I've also become an avid youtube vlog watcher/creeper and twitterer. And I really want to vlog but it would be really boring, and I would have nothing to say. All these vloggers are much more interesting.

oh and if you want you can follow me http://twitter.com/scivarolo

I also finally have some books to read I got all 3 of John Green's books recently Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines and Paper Towns.

I want to start reading much more than I do now which is no reading at all.

For 2009, my goal is to work out a lot more; even if its just a couple of sit-ups and push-ups daily. I started today. Let's hope I can last through 2009.

Man, I've got nothing to do today.

I did my sketches at school on Wednesday during my break so I've got nothing to work on. I'm caught up with my online classes, and everyone is busy. I'm sitting alone at the apartment passively listening to Circus.

I could go to the Teahouse and get some tapioca, and maybe go by American Apparel and buy a jacket, but since I've misplaced my debit card I can only use my credit card and I don't want to do that. But I just might.

Except it looks like I have to actually put on some winter clothes. Its 56 outside. Don't judge, it's Texas. thats cold.

Speaking of which. I had my window cracked last night when I went to sleep. And I was awoken two hours later with this polar wind blasting through my window. It was so loud. and the window was shaking and the trees outside were crazy. That was some crazy wind.

I've just seen a face

  • Nov. 20th, 2008 at 12:57 AM

Man its been awhile.

I saw the Ting Tings live last month. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G live. I've never enjoyed myself so much at any other concert.

The semester is pretty much wrapping up. I'm working on my final project for graphic communications. At the end of the semester maybe I'll post my work from the fall.

Our electric bill is $314 this month! Ike is to blame. Apparently last month was only an estimate reading ($17) so we have to pay two months worth this month? ugh. Stupid hurricanes messing with the city. At least gas is only 1.77.

SPRING 09 SCHEDULE

I'm torn between taking Drawing for graphics on MW or TuTh. Noora is a grad student, and on TuTh its with one of the graphics profs, but it makes doing projects way easier if I just have all day to work on them. hmmmmm

I'm also going to take some online class probably. I'm so sick of all these core classes Texas makes us take.

Strawberry Fields Forever

  • Mar. 24th, 2008 at 1:43 AM

Man, spring break needs to continue. I don't like having to go to sleep at reasonable times. Hence why i am still awake at 2 AM and have color theory at 8 AM. boo.

This semester just needs to end already! 5 more weeks. only 5. the end couldn't come any sooner.

I'm ready for Argentina and Cedar Point. and work work work to save save save to pay my rent rent rent. gah i can't wait for next year either.

i've decided i have a love crush on jim sturgess.

the end. i'm going to sleep?

i'm sorry that i don't write amazing, intersting, insightful, cool, awesome, or deep entries. i always feel so lame.

Things are shaping up to be Pretty Odd.

  • Mar. 23rd, 2008 at 8:17 PM

I got the new Hush Sound and Panic at the Disco albums in the mail yesterday.

<3<3<3.

I must go finish my color theory project now.

Spring Break is almost over.

  • Mar. 22nd, 2008 at 2:53 AM

I rented Across the Universe today, and it was basically amazing. I've been singing The Beatles all day.

August Rush was also AMAZING. It is my new favorite movie. Everything about it was just great. It made me feel good watching it. I don't know. Maybe its my passion for classical music but I absolutely loved it.

I also saw Vacancy. it was fucking scary.

The Other Boleyn Girl was pretty twisted.

I don't think I've ever seen that many movies in a week.

AND everyone needs to watch Weeds. its HILARIOUS. and is now one of my favorite shows.

Semester 2

  • Mar. 13th, 2008 at 12:38 PM

Well, Spring Break officially started today. Art History was cancelled. And I woke up this morning with an e-mail from my 3D Design teacher saying she was still sick, so I didn't have any class today.

There's a huge possibility of me getting an apartment with Catherine and Kristy.. which would be AMAZING. I'm ready for some independence. I just need my parent's to agree to it. I can pay it. They just always say no everytime i bring up an apartment. ugh

Spring Break is coming at a perfect time. I'm so excited for a break from Color Theory assignments and that I don't have to work on this project for 3D Design anymore.

I made some AMAZING lights out of some VOSS water bottles. So here's a crappy pic I took with my phone since I have no batteries for my camera.

This is what I do in College )

The rest of my stuff

So it seems that reality of college is starting to happen. Last semester made college seem like some sort of joke. It was easy beyond reason. Thank Texas for its core requirements. They are a waste of time.

Now, in my second semester I'm starting to have a more reasonable load of work. Color Theory is just project after project, I'm practically painting every free moment I get. I don't know if I like my 3D Design class yet. Our professor is making us do this performance art with the masks we had to design. Its ridiculous and our group's is a huge joke.

I got used to having all of this free time, and I've realized each semester its just going to get busier and busier. I don't know if I'll be able to manage a job alongside school for much longer. And that's a dissappointment because I'm hoping to be able to afford an apartment come August. I'm also wanting to get an iPhone, and a couple of us are saving to go to Hong Kong next June for a friend's graduation. So far, 700 dollars won't cover all of that.

You'd think living at your grandma's upstairs for free would be great since its free and all, but its not. I can't take the constant nagging and my mom calling all the time. Are you going, are you going for dinner, when are you getting there, your grandma wants to know this or that, Are you getting food, did you do the dishes you can't leave them for her to do.

I'm just ready to be independent. My mom doesn't understand that.

Anyways, I've got to go to Art History now.

I'm procastinating a lot on this mask project for 3D Design. I just really feel like sitting here and watching tv instead.

I've been watching old ANTMs and sleeping. College has made me so lazy.

Will someone take my car to get an oil change for me? That would be great.

WOW, LJ. I seem to have forgotten about you. For some reason it feels really high school. I don't know. I need to invest in a camera. Maybe some new photography will inspire me to write.

2007 was a great year, and so far 2008 is pretty good. There have been a couple of negative events but I can move on. Alcohol makes you do things you shouldn't do.

I started spring semester 2 weeks ago, and I'm enjoying it for the most part.

My schedule sucks because I have to be in class at 8 M-Th, but I don't have class on Fridays so its really nice.

I've got

M/W
Color 8-11
Political Science 2 1-2:30 with Daniel
Finite Math 2:30-4.

Tu/Th
Art History II 8:30-10
3D Design 11:30-2:30

15 credit hours, 21 class hours. :-(

I'm really not looking forward to Block review next year. I'm nervous that if I don't get into graphic communications in the fall that I won't have any work to submit for my portfolio and then i'll have to wait another year to get into the program.

Other than school, I've really only been working.

College is amazing. Sometimes I don't know what to do with all this time. As much as I didn't love all of the time that band took up after school, I really wish I could still be in it. I miss band a lot. Seeing The Woodlands this year made me miss it even more. They probably had one of the best designed shows in the history of BOA. Take a look for yourself. I absolutely love the 4th/5th Movements. I watch it all the time.

I'm going to try and post more often. Maybe my life will get some interest in it.

I bought one of the new Apple wireless keyboards yesterday. It is unbelievably thin. I can type faster on it than I ever could on any other keybaord. its basically amazing. I also bought one of those laptop stands for my desktop, now my neck doesn't hurt from looking down at the screen. its cool.

Next weekend is the BOA Super Regional in San Antonio and me and catherine are going. The Woodlands has an amazingg chance at winning. Their show, Sequenza, is probably one of the best designed shows ever. They're playing bernstein's profanation, einstein on the beach, philip glass' concerto for saxophone quartet and orchestra, and "morning passages' form the movie "The Hours". I LOVEEEE that song.

ok i'm done with my hs band nerdiness.

There are only like four more weeksish of classes left. And then finals. I'm pretty much excited. I won't miss these classes. I'm hoping to take photography and graphic communications next semester, that should be exciting. We start figure drawing in a week. Hmmm...

Its nice when days are laid back.

History was cancelled, so I meandered around the Galleria for awhile, unsuccessfully replacing my lost sunglasses. Art class was nice, we discussed our milk/ammonia work. And got a new assignment. I sat in the library for a while and chatted with Kristina who is coming home tomorrow! Then I went to Catherine's when she finished practicing. Andrew came back from san antonio, and just, everyone is coming home!.

The Woodlands homecoming game is tomorrow, and I'm really excited to go see the band perform. The show is beyond amazing design.

Does anyone own an AirPort Express? because mine is sucking a lot. I guess I have to take it to the Apple Store, I'm sick of losing my connection every few minutes.

Dilemma

crosswalk
Here's my issue.

I'm not a conceptual person. And I have to draw the taste of milk and the smell of ammonia for Thursday.

I'm stuck.

hey look, i'm alive!

College life is good. no stress. the commute sucks sometimes though.

I really don't want to do any more fundamentals anymore though. This drawing class is getting old fast. But it turns out I don't suck as much as I thought.

College has gotten me to start working out. hooray. glad UH has an amazing rec center.

parking sucks.

my iPod touch is amazing.

went to Norman to visit some friends at OU the other weekend. went to the OU Utah state game. 'twas fun.

planning on going to visit Robert in dallas sometime soon with kristina. shall be uber fun.

wishing i could still be in twhs band. if they don't win nationals this year, i'll cry. not really. but its our year.

wow, there has been so much alcohol in the past 2 weeks of my life ranging from bottles of boone's farm to a bunch of shots of patron.

unfortunately no one's parents are out of town anymore and it makes all of us really sad.

I'M GOING TO THAILAND! July 19 - August 5. I think I might be investing on a digital SLR.. so i'll be taking lotsa pictures if I do.

The other day I convinced my dad to go to the VW dealer to look at cars.. so I'm that much closer to a brand spankin' new rabbit.

College orientation was really lame.

I signed up for classes though.

Chemistry
College Algebra online
Fundamentals of Drawing
US History to 1877
and US/TX political science or something.

i think i already posted that. oh well.

I straightened my hair today cuz i was bored. I think it will be permanent after wednesday.

in 11 days I will be 18, and the first thing I'm doing... South beach!

Jun. 23rd, 2007
